How Do We Witness

Reading today from Acts 17 about Paul preaching in Athens. It stands out to me that Paul did not attack the Athenians. Rather he was courteous and tried to attract the people he was talking to. He did this by pointing out their alters, quoting their poets and appealing to their common sense. So different from what many of our pastor/preachers today do in attacking what they see as evil and against Biblical teaching. Why can we Christians not present the truth and share the good news in a loving, caring and attractive manner? Much of what I hear from Christian brothers and sisters sounds hateful and unloving.

This is not to say that we should sugar coat the truth. Even when Paul preached the way he did, the response was not full acceptance. Some completely rejected his teaching, some wanted to hear more later, and a few believed what he taught and were converted.
